borito poster must be mistaken. Your CPU is top flight. Sadly your GPU? Well not much. I mean my OC HD 3650 mobile beats your 8700m GT? Do not spend big money going SLI. Not worth it. Oh did I mention my GPU that beats yours is in a 14". Do not throw good money after bad.

Best of luck burito and happy holidays!

SLI 8800's is evidently the 2nd best mobile solution after 9800's, and beats CF 3650's. Also you must remember that your 3650 is running at a MUCH lower rez than i am, probably producing better bench'es. Also my 8700 is OC'ed quite a bit why thank you lol.

500 for the cpu??..i just sold a x9000 for 360 shipped

The 9800's are the same as the 8800's..same core. Its just marketing. ATI is not as smooth for gaming as nvidia is.(in laptops anyways)

And yes you can get bottlenecking with the cpu if you have the 8800's..specially if you push a little overclock on them.

Not saying it will do horrible...but the x9000 runs at 3.4...thats quite a difference.

How is the sli 8800 not worth it??? Putting down 16k 3dmark06 scores is pretty damn good.

I was stuck on 8700m GT in SLI. Which is say around 8000 3Dmark06. Also I see 8800m GTX SLI at around 13000 3DMark06 not 16000. 9800m GTX SLI are not at 16000. Yes 16000 is nothing to make light of 13000 also not to be made light of.

You must use a DeLL card. What are DeLL 8800m GTX SLI going for? $2000 from DeLL? Do they still have stock? That is a lot in my mind. What can you actually find them for on ebay if you can find?

I know only my opinion and would not protest anyones opinion to do different. I myself would be happier spending the $1700 on a Sager with single 9800m GTX little lower 3Dmark06. All games can't make use of SLI. Those that can't will run better w/9800m GTX those that can a little better w/8800m GTX SLI.

So I am against 8700m GT SLI on performance. My only problem with 8800m GTX SLI is cost not performance.

I would at least consider if I were you what could I sell yours for to offset the cost of replacement. Montevina w/9800m's under $2000? If you can get $1000 for yours I think in my cheap way of thinking hard to dismiss.

Just throwing out options if you like your machine for other reasons like design then yes my suggestions would be wrong for you. I am only thinking cost/performance.

Good luck in your quest to increase performance.

well you have to take into the fact that scores have a variance..cause different processors and everything make a huge difference. And yes with my x9000 cpu at 3.4..and stock video settings im getting 14.8. Thats not touching the cards which can go much higher. Its really easy to read about something, its another to see it perform in front of your eyes...

Yeah some of the games cant use SLI too the fullest..but you dont think they will get it right? most games i play are perfect. With gaming laptops you should always get the most expensive one you can afford. The only game that does horrible on PC right now is grand theft auto..other than that its good to go.

on the m1730, with cpu at 3.4 and video at 600-625/900/1500....yes 16k is not hard to hit. I have a screen shot at 14.8...
