So I successfully OCed my q6600 to 3.6ghz stable ( 400 x 9 )
Mobo EP45-DS3L

Core temps are 36 33 34 36 idle
..............................44 40 42 44 Full load

My questions are ( since I'm new to the whole OC thing )
My bus speed now is 400mhz, my ram is PC2-6400 ( 400mhz )
Does that mean that if I want to OC any futher I need better ram ?

Also my FSB is now 1600mhz
And my mobo spec says

CPU Socket Type LGA 775
CPU Type Quad-core / Core 2 Extreme / Core 2 Duo / Pentium
-----> FSB 1600/1333MHz <----- This
Does that mean that my mobo can not pull any more FSB out of it since I'm at the very limit ?

Thanks alot guys

I suggest going to the User CP & filling in your system specs. It'll make it easier for people to help you out. =)

well your ram is probably running at 800mhz now...............(2xfsb)

you should beable to take ur ram to about 880mhz

you mobo should beable to hit 450mhz with good cooling

--> is this after 5 minutes? ppl consider 1-2 hours (really 6+) for full load temps.

You can overclock the RAM beyond 400 mhz until it freezes.
the FSB 1600/1333 means 400 FSB / 333 Mhz on your CPU, nothing else. Those are what they are rated at, you can go ahead and overclock

Yeah make sure you are running either intel burn test or prime95 small FFTs for 6 minutes or so to see real temperatures. How did you test for stability?

Also, coretemp is the best temperature monitor for the Q6600.

Sorry for the delay guys, having some issue with printscreen using 2 monitors

I know that's not long enough, but the temp should not increase that much after 6 hours right ?

that chip has got some potential, 1.2125 vid. 1 min of prime is really not enough to test for stability, and the temp rises a bit after you leave it running for a while. I bet that with 1.29v at 3.6ghz p95 fails very quickly.

And you are right, my computer just restarts itself running prime 95, I will go ahead and increase the Vcore then ....
