Some didn't have enough documentation to tell whether or not they had the capability. Only ones I know can do it from having sufficient documentation are: Samsung, Sony*, and Sharp. Kind of surprised at the Panasonic to be honest.

*Not many Sony HDTVs have it from what I can tell

It is in fact very much true, the width may be off considering there is like 4 different standards... it is SD though. You need to buy the correct cables to utilize the HD feature.

Same thing, look above. Composite cannot do HD, I suggest you check it out on google if you are confused as to which cable you are talking about. Component and HDMI are the ones that have HD capability, although as I said component only does 1080p on certain TVs.

-----
I am done here, unless you think you can continue the debate as an adult.
Wait, how am I NOT debating as an "adult," your were wrong the entire time. The only time a TV won't accept an HD signal through component is when the publishers of the medium incorporate an ICT, that has to do with Blu-ray and HD DVD, then you'll need HDMI which is the reason MSFT upgraded the 360s with an HDMI-out I believe, someone correct me if I'm wrong.

As OmegaNemsis told you, they updated the 360s firmware in 2006 to support 1080p through component and VGA.

Quote:
Complete Dashboard Update Feature List

New Features

* HD 1080p video mode support over VGA and component cables.
* Xbox 360™ HD DVD Player support.
* Stream WMV video from a Windows PC running Windows Media Player 11, Zune software, or Windows Media Connect.
* Play video from storage devices such as USB flash drives, Xbox 360 Memory Units, etc.
* Play video from CD or DVD data discs.
* Xbox 360 Wireless Headset support, including battery level indicator in the Xbox Guide.
* Video support for 50 Hz HDTV modes (DVD only).
* Xbox 360 Wireless Racing Wheel support.
* Set up automatic downloads of newly released Xbox Live Arcade trial games.
* Support for upcoming release of XNA Game Studio Express (separate download and subscription required.)
* Stream music, pictures and video from a Zune devic
Source

Even if the 360 couldn't output an HD signal through component, you can still use your A/V(Red, White, Yellow) cables to get an HD signal...

the pc will always have the capability. its no surprise atall. ps3 and 360 always have less AA and textures, as well as slower distance loading. But its the fact that they can still look that good at such a cheap price compared to a decent gaming rig that gives them the edge in many ways. And there are some absolute masterpeices graphics wise on console. Metal Gear 4 and Burnout Paradise just to list a few. You never get any performance issues with consoles however. And this is the big catch. A PC game will always look better. But at what price? I have games that i bought years ago that only now we can enjoy in all their real graphical glory. And that continues to be the case.

The fact is, however, if it runs well and looks great, the pc version will always be the best choice. and its cheaper!

Your responses are generally unreasonable and arrogant, that is why I say you aren't acting like an adult.

Composite cannot do HD at all.

Those are just from 2008... not the previous years. The Xbox is capable of it, a large majority of TVs however cannot receive it. Like I've said 3 times now.

What was your original statement? Something about the 360-core not being able to output an image greater than 480p, you were proven wrong. Now you've changed your argument to HD sets not being able to receive the signal... Who cares? This thread had nothing to do with an HDTV's shortcomings.

...and this whole debate is about something unreasonable. Comparing 2005 tech to 2008 hardware? Makes perfect f'ing sense. Hey, lets compare an i686 to the Core i7, you know... to see which is faster.

Are you kidding me? Duke Nukem 64 is probably my all time favorite game on the whole system - It was the reason I chose the N64 over a PS1(I eventually got a PS1 also). Duke Nukem would have kicked ass and chewed bubble gum on any platform as far as I'm concerned.

Let me know if you see a Component/HDMI/VGA cable there or any way to get HD with that $200. Protip: There is only a Composite cable which does not do HD.

I'll leave the rest of the ignorance for others to pick apart if they choose to, I really am done with this debate now. Too much trolling and fanboyism, not enough reason.

Why are you saying the 360 can only do 640x480 or 720x480? The console, through component can do 480p, 720p, 1080i, and 1080p. All versions of the console come with Component & Composite cables (they're all apart of the same cord), I know this for fact as I've purchased almost all versions of the console for myself and friends as presents over the years. A friend just bought the Arcade last week, it came with the same old Component + Composite cable all 360's are packaged with.

The PS3 only comes with Composite, atleast the 40GB I won last Feb, so you need to buy an HDMI cable or Component cable for HD capability.

The 360 has also had a promo since Sept where if you buy the $199 Arcade console, you can "upgrade" to a 20GB on their website for $20, no tax, no shipping. Basically, if you want a cheap console, buy a 360, since MS is practically giving them away this Christmas lol.
