[GS]360/PS3/PC Comparison - Page 7

The main thing people seem to be bringing up is the price difference. However, most people don't think about the cost of current consoles when determining this - they think about the traditional console cost which is $200-$250. People spent $600 on their PS3s ($400 now). I could easily build a computer that could play those games at high settings for $600 - the other thing about this is PCs have an incredible amount of utility. I use my PC all the time. I wouldn't use a console for anything except gaming and maybe watching Blu-ray movies. When it's practical and not awkward to play games, download/watch videos, watch DVD/BR movies, surf the web, do homework, do real work, mess with all sorts of editing programs, etc on a console, then I'll consider spending the money on one.

Look at GTA4 lol, actually look at it. AA, colors are well balanced, and if you look at the building in the back, the windows are actually there on PC. On the consoles they are just textures.

Honestly the 360 and PS3 looked better than I thought they would. Never seen any of those games on a console. They looked pretty good .... a little less crisp around the small edges of objects.

To me the PC looked a little washed out in some pics, they should have changed the settings a bit...

Although comparing to a $400 PC might be a more valid value-for-dollar comparison, I don't think that any of us would argue that a $400 PC is really a "gaming PC". Now I don't think they did the comparison justice by using top-of-the-line hardware either, that's not what most gamers actually have. But years after the consoles have launched, I do think it's fair to say that the average gaming PC is probably beefier inside than the consoles.
You can get a complete computer with an X2 5200+ and HD 4670 graphics for under $400. That would likely be better than console offerings.

And its not $400 console or $400 PC. Its "I have $400 and want to play games". And if you haven't been living under a rock for the past 6 years chances are you already have a computer.

Any dual core and a 4870 will beat the living daylights out of a console. Thats $200. The extra $200 will get you an e5200, a motherboard, and a PSU should you require them.

This is not about how much each cost and what is better or not. This is to show those console games that PC has better graphics. I have to friends at school who believe that their PS3 has better graphics then my PC and what funny is that they think of the PS3 as something ultra fast with extreme unbeatable graphics .

This is a stupid comparison. I bought my 360 for less than $200 and my i7 pc cost over $2000 with all the bells and whistles.

A $200 360 would rape the same priced computer.
Either way who cares what is better, I have both!

Although people seem to be underwhelmed by the PC graphics, you have to remember that console gaming is where the money is now, and 95% of games are designed with them in mind. Every console is exactly the same, so games can be optimized for the hardware much more easily.

There are also many misconceptions about PC requirements in my opinion. You can game perfectly well on a $500 PC, us here on OCN are an enthusiast minority. Even if you do end up spending $1-2k, there you have the cost of a decent HDTV which most console users have now. With all of this included, plus the lower cost of PC games, I really don't think PC gaming is that much - if at all - more expensive.
