PSU + my system-advice please

post #1 of 7
Thread Starter
hi;

i was thinking about getting extra fans for my computer but i don't know if i am at the limit with my psu or not. i keep getting different wattage levels from different people, from 500w-800w.

right now, i'm using the Corsair TX650W supporting my system specs located in my system spec section

i also have 4 USBs plugged into my computer and already have 3 fans installed.

would adding 3 more fans be alright for my PSU? is there a more comfortable wattage level that i should be at? also have a thermal take v1 cpu cooler... (im guessing these take up more wattage as well)

thank you

Fans draw so little wattage that they're not an issue.
But I wouldn't hook to many fans to the motherboard fan headers. Those usually have a pretty low wattage limit.
Hook extra fans directly to a 12v molex connector.
If you want to control their speed install a fan controller or a rheostat.

Corsair 650tx is a very soild psu. Even the OC GXT260 216 (182w) and quad, it may take 400w so plenty power for fans and other devices.

the corsair 650tx will run your system with the extra fans without a problem, anybody telling you otherwise is wrong.
