Scythe fans reliability?

Thread Starter
Just wondering how many people if any have had problems with Scythe fans clicking, making unusual noises or problems in general.

I've got about 6 Scythe fans and two of them, an Ultra Kaze 3000 and a 1900RPM Slipstream make clicking/rattling noises, The slipstream usualy does it when I first boot up my rig for about 10 minutes then stops ;l and the Ultra kaze makes a constant noise if I run it at full speed, it's fine as long as it's at half speed, i'm hesitant to replace them with more of the same incase I run into the problem again, so is this common or did I just get unlucky with two fans from two different stores?
That happens with fans like those (both my Ultra Kazes whine when I undervolt them). I don't expect much for any brands aimed at PC enthusiasts. That's why I prefer to purchase fans from brands like Delta, Sanyo Denki and Panaflo.

All (5-6) of my 1900rpm Slipstreams work fine at 12V and undervolted with no weird sound, until they actually stop spinning because of not enough voltage. The Ultra Kaze 2000s were fine at 12V and ok undervolted because if you put your ear near to it you can here the clicking. The Ultra Kaze 3000 is ''fine'' (loud but that's normal) at 12V but easily clicks at lower voltages.

Yeah, only one of my three slipstreams click randomly and the Ultra kaze 3000 clicks at FULL speed and in the last 10 minutes started clicking at half speed too, the 2000 is fine at any speed. It's really starting to bug me now, I think i'll replace it with a Delta after xmas, I guess i'll have to switch it out with something else for now.

My Kaze 3k started having some bearing noise at all speeds after a couple weeks of use. It hasn't died yet but I'm keeping my eye on it.

I may have gotten a bad one, but these are built to a budget. They use sleeve bearings (which are the worst) and are usually sold for ~$10. A Delta (with ball bearings) at that CFM range are usually $20-30. You get what you pay for.
