Lapping my 5600+ was fun!

NOT.

I decided to dish out the average of grits, so I went 400-800-1000-1500

I started off with 400 grit, doing the way OCN/ TJ Harlow did his on youtube. 20 this way, 20 that way, etc... I'm like robot lapper over here. After about 2 rounds (160 strokes) I'm like yeah this is gonna be awesome! And it was TOTALLY AWESOME... if you consider the IHS looking the exact same as it did before I started doing anything to it.

I went out an bought 300 grit (omg! im s0 naughties i wunder if i will get prezentz this yeer?! ) Well I did the same thing. 2 rounds, 160 strokes. I'm slowly turn the cpu over with anticipation. HOLY GONADS.... yeah it's about the same as it was before the 400 grit. I can still see the awesome print on the IHS.

Whatever, I put on my orange headband put on my awesome jogging pants, and 5 t-shirts to make me look extra buff. I bought 150 grit. (omg! naughties! coal for Christmas!)

I started lapping with the 150, ok, the nickel went away in like 20 mins with 1 sheet

(I cut 4 pieces, I did the circular motion bc I was so aaaangry).

Well after that it was all downhill, 300/400 did it's job, 800 did it's job, etc.. etc..

Btw I -almost- had a mirror finish with 1500 grit, but definitely a flat surface. With 2000 grit you could probably use it was a shower cloth. Anyway just wanted to share my lap experience with you guys. Oh yeah, I had to replug my 12v connector and my satas because they weren't recognized.

Total time = 3 1/2 hours.
Total temp drop = 5-6c
Worth it? = rofl I'm gonna go cry now

6c drop in temp isn't bad at all. Now apply some AS 5 and watch it drop 3 more degrees.

Every drop in temp is a good drop

5-6C is actually quite good! That's like a free voltage increase right there.

yeah that is a really good temp drop from the lapping.

but when i read the title and you said it was fun, i was gonna send you some other stuff to lap for me! I hate lapping soo much....
haha lapping aint THAT bad, at least I don't think it is

Then again, I've also sat down and spent 35 hours polishing painted sport bike wheels... That makes lapping feel like a treat! haha

I didn't knew you could actually lap CPU's and HSF's.
I might try this on my current 4600+ when i get my new phenom and see how that ends up.

If it's not for less temp its for the shineyness
