He is Lapping an intel CPU but the concept is the same.
When lapping a AMD CPU you have to be careful to not bend the pins on the back of the cpu. Basically you just remove material to make the top of the CPU IHS Flat (down to the copper is Prefered).
By creating a flat surface you can use less thermal grease to aid in the transfer of heat and lower your CPU temps in the process allowing you to increase the CPU Voltage a little more for a Higher OC.Edited by XxBeNigNxX - 12/23/08 at 6:14am
