msi k9a2 cf, warning beeps [Problem solved]

Hi!

I'm from sweden and I have a problem with my computer. It beeps twice in the boot sequence. I have AMI bios and I've checked the translation for the codes; "A memory parity error has occurred in the first 64K of RAM. The RAM IC is probably bad."

link: http://www.bioscentral.com/beepcodes/amibeep.htm

I checked the memories yesterday with a program called memtest, and there is no problem with the ram. I also took out the memories one at the time and started the computer but the problem remains. So I guess the problem has something to do with the "RAM IC", whatever that means?

I'm sorry for the bad english!

Anybody who can help me?

Problem solved. XxBeNigNxX was right, it is as if the motherboard counts the USBs that are in use!

"AMI tech quote, "At boot up, the system acknowledes the presence of external devices connected via USB, Firewire...etc, by beeping".

I unplugged my printer and external hard dive, rebooted and no beeping. Reconnect, restated again, beeping came back.

This case is not published in AMI's documents nor anywhere on the web that I could find.

UNBELIEVABLE !!

Seeker, maybe this would work for you? Hope it does, then you would know, nothing is wrong."

I am quoting someone else's answer that helped him....He had the same problems that you are having.

He tested the ram w/memtest and it came back no errors.

i don't know if this will help but it may

Tjenare. ;-)

You don't need to worry. The MSI boards beep one time for every USB-device that's connected to the mobo.
My brother's K9A2 beeps 6 times on every reboot. :-( Very annoying.
But, that's how it's supposed to be, the error codes you mention is the most usual use for the post-beep though.

Heia Norge! ;-)
