SLI 8x/8x & 16x/16x

Guys I'm making a new system..

based on a AM2 mobo..

couldn't find cheap AM2+ mobo's that could SLI

and i've came across the:

Gigabyte GA-M57SLI-S4 nForce 570 SLI
http://www.pcper.com/article.php?aid=398&type=expert

but it has 8x 8x in SLI

single GPU it uses 16x lane right?

and I've ordered just 1 GPU for now..

the XFX 9800 GTX+ 512MB 760core clock version

maybe in a week or 2 i'll buy another 9800 GTX+ 512MB same version.

And is a OCZ 500w PSU enough for the SLI?
http://www.azerty.nl/producten/produ...---europa.html

or do i need the OCZ 600w version?

Yeah, the one slot will run in x16 with a single gpu and both run at x8 in sli. You should be fine running those cards in sli once you get the other one. You will see little performance loss when compared to pcie 1.0 x16 or pcie 2.0.
Edit: Do you already have the board? If I were you I would spring for this open box deal instead BIOSTAR TPower N750 AM2+/AM2. This run in x8 mode when you have both cards in sli but it's pcie 2.0 so it's equivalent to a pcie 1.0 x16 slot. You will be a little more future proofed with this board.

Edit again: I just saw in your profile that you are in the Netherlands. In that case that board will be great that you have there I owned it for about a year and it overclocked well and performed well in SLI. It will be a bottleneck for phenom cpu's since it doesn't support the new Hyper transport standard otherwise it's great.

Is there a huge performance loss?

when I run it in 16x 16x or 8x 8x.

I'll try looking for a AM2+ mobo that has a 2.0 16x lane..

if I can't find a SLI board.

I think ill go for a single 2.0 16x board..

would that be wise?
or should i still go for this mobo

The wiser choice would be to go for the new pcie 2.0 just for futureproofing whether it's x8 in sli or x16. No I don't believe newegg delivers to the netherlands.
