I built the system yesterday, got the P35C-DS3R in with no problems... I then snapped my artic cooling 7 freezer pro fan. So now Im stuck with using the intel stock cooler for a few days.
Weird thing is the overclocking... This is my 2nd build, and my first build couldn't overclock at all, so I am new at overclocking.
Ive gradually increased my Frequency in Bios from 200 to 280. But my multiplier insists at staying at 6x not 8x. This means I havent actually overclocked it at all BUT UNDERCLOCKED it :O. Cpu-Z keeps changing the mulitplier to 8x for a few seconds every minute... This is not normal, right?

That is intel speedstep. Just disable C1e EIST or Speedstep in the BIOS.

I ll be buying a q6600 soon alongwith an ATI 4850. Will I be able to overclock the q6600 to 3.2 on air on the G31M-S2L board?
And how does the G31M-S2L board compare to the GA-P31-ES3G board in terms of stability?

The G31-M has onboard graphics and is mATX. It is known to be one of the better budget mATX boards. It should get the Q6600 to 3.2ghz fairly easily.
