Worth upgrading to X2 5000?

Hey guys,

My dad is using a P4 3.2ghz, 1gb of RAM, computer. He built it ages ago, and the damn thing needs a reformat, more ram, and/or a full upgrade. I feel bad because he multi-tasks like a mofo.

I scrounged together some spare parts and gave him an X2 4000, 2gb of ram. much better. But I was thinking for Xmas, I should upgrade it to maybe a 5000.

Do you think it's worth upgrading to the 5000? not black edition.

I went from a 2.6ghz P4 to a 5000+

For regular browsing and stuff...no difference

Multitasking is smoother though
Gaming is also less "jittery"

If your friend multitasks as much as you say he does, maybe consider a Phenom 8450 as well if you can afford it

I think running his harddrives in a raid setup would produce the best performance for him.

That 4000 should be able to overclock to 3Ghz
