Surround sound question

Thread Starter
Right now I have a Logitech Z-2300 ( http://www.logitech.com/index.cfm/sp...s/231&cl=US,EN ) set up in my room. I think the sound and bass is amazing for the price that I got it for, but I was wondering if I could add generally add speakers to my 5.1 sound card to make it surround sound? Even though the Z-2300 system is plugged in through the main audio jack, could I just use the others for different speakers?

No. The system has to work together through a main receiver or amp, typically the one built into the sub.

You could quite easily make a quad speaker set up if you had another set of speakers to plug into the rear jack.
Making a 5.1 kit would be harder/not possible as you already have the sub and in a standard 5.1 configuration the sub has it's own dedicated channel, rather than sharing the front audio jack.
If you wanted anything beyond 4 channel sound, I'm afraid you'll need to spend more money.

well even that would be great. What would I have to do if I did have another set of speakers though? The current system I have is already plugged in the rear jack?
