Possible to get hard driver faster?!

Hey,

I was just thinking about to getting my hard drive faster, because it's probably slowing my computer at the boot and almost everything when I'm working on the desktop.

Any settings in BIOS that would set it faster, haven't found anything.
Quick boot is enabled, etc.. something like that?

Set SATA mode to AHCI. (WARNING: You may have to reinstall XP) That'll speed things up a bit. But probably you've reached the limit of the drives, and should buy newer (faster) ones.

You could do a disk defrag.

I defrag my hard drive few times in one day, and use everything to keep it fast and clean. SATA mode is currently IDE, so, I'll try it out.

Biatch, if you are considering a new HDD obviously the fastest available would be the 10,000 RPM Western Digital Velociraptor. These things are blazing fast. Cost quite a penny but worth it if you are a speed freak or looking to speed up your system.

I know, but I'm not going to buy a new hard drive, just wanted to ask, if there's anything to do. ACHI mode didn't work at all, I just got a BSOD, and needed to set it back to IDE, and it was little bit slower.

There was a option, where I was allowed to change something, enchaned, compatible..?!

Some SATA hard drives have jumpers on them which restrict them to SATA1 speeds. Make sure this jumper is not installed.
