Ballistix Overclock - Calling all Memory Timing Wizards!

Thread Starter
I've got my 2x1GB sticks of Ballistix PC2-6400 overclocked here and I've got some results. I'm looking for help with the next step though as I think I hit a wall with the RAM clock.

running at 1.9V
1066 5-5-5-15 2T is stable up to 1088

at 2.2V
i can get up to 1154mhz 5-5-5-15 2T (havent run memtest but it still posts)

whenever i try to set the ram to 1156 it will lock up during post.
i have tried setting the voltage up to 2.3 as well as down to 1.9 and still I got nothing. I think it may be the timings but I'm not too familiar with the advanced ram timings so I'm looking for some advice.

I think I can get these to 1200 as I'm pretty close already.

You need to stress test those speeds. 1156MHz for regular DDR2 800 is blazing fast and I'd be very surprised to see it hold.

touche; i'm really impatient though. i like to see how far i can go until it stops booting, then backtrack a little bit and stress test just a TAD below the max.

i'm tryin to find the max FSB for my motherboard now and then i guess it's a matter of finding the right equatio nfor my settings.

if i can run 2200mhz fsb then i can run my ram at 1100 and the cpu at 4.4 and that would be swell!

Single sided 6400 use high density ICs and are designed to run at 2.0v
Any higher and it's RMA city.

I have a pair of these 2.0v single sided and I was unable to push them past 1150 myself. They are much better then the 2.2v single sided they where selling earlier this year.

You could try cas 6. Use memset to play with sub timings.

the ballistix i have are the 2.2 single sided.

what subtimings should i adjust?

i tried messing with cas 6 and got minor results; ie: i could get to the part of POST where it detects the hard drives instead of the very initial POST screen that says "NVIDIA 512MB blah blah"

Holy crap you got a golden set of 2.2v singles. I had some and they died after like 3 months at only 2.0v and 800mhz

as for timings you could try just a simple change 5 5 5 18 or you may have to go to 6 6 6 18
I really dont know

i would think that they are maxed out
