Is it really that smart to pour LN2 without gloves like that?

if only for a sec or 2 theres no problem
its far more dangerous to wear golves no suited for Ln2 than not using gloves at all

theres a layer of air around your body, and the Ln2 is so cold that slips on tha air layer
after a couple of secs can make dangerous injuries tough

It's the same motto that we use in my organic chemistry laboratory

Even if we are dealing with corrosive solvents it's always better not to wear gloves as the time that it takes to take them off when you spill something on them is always too long so you're better off without them.

I think he meant it's better than using gloves not suited for Ln2. And I totally agree with steelballz on that. Wrong protective gear can be just as bad as not wearing any.
