Incredibly Slow transfer speeds...

Thread Starter
Alright, so first I will explain all the aspects:

Computer 1:
(Sig Rig)
Using Vista Ultimate x64

Computer 2:
Linux Server (Mandriva 2009 OS)
Gigabit NIC (Intel)
Pentium D 2.8 ( )
Mushkin 4GB RAM

All behind a Linksys 8 Port Gigabit connection (SD2008 ver 3.0).

Now the issue is, I get a max of 20MB/sec. On average though, it is usually 5 -9 MB/sec. Now, I have tried numerous 'fixes' and what not, none really seem to increase speed.

Tried:
netsh int tcp set global autotuninglevel=disabled

Disabling Windows Firewall (Twice)

Removing Remote Differential Compression

Windows Meeting Space

Disabling Multimedia Class Scheduler

Gone through multiple Advanced settings through the driver

Removed Windows DFS Replication

Not sure what else anyone has done, but I am at a loss. I have a gigabit connection, I would like to use it.

Rep and thanks to all who help.

Neither of that helped. I already understand the aspects and restrictions that are applied with networking, but 40< speeds on a 1Gigabit connection should not happen.

I am barely hitting 100 Mbit, when I am.

I only get about 5-9MB/s even 2mb/s transferring files VIA LAN.
Thread Starter
I should be getting around 80 MB/sec.

1000 / 8 = 125 MB/sec

125 - 40 [Some give] = 85

85 - 40 [some more give] = 45 MB/sec

That is still more then I am getting, atleast twice what I am getting now. Atleast when I am peaked. I know that if I were to use server 2008, I could get much more.

I am noticing the more files the slower the speed.

Does any of this look suspicious? I only noticed a couple things I was worried about, but Google picked them up.
