I used to run a few Runescape and WoW servers back in the day, and I also ran a CS:S server for a while. (10Mb/s down AND up is such a sick thing to have for a home connection )

I also really don't have any projects or big to-do's in the next year.

As for written communication skills, I wrote this résumé to be a part-time WoW server developer which I decided to pull out of:
wait wait wait, did you just openly admit to running pirated servers? Wow, probably not a good move for wanting a job of responsiblity. But more power to you though. I may be mistaken, please let me know if I am.

Although I have already put in an application of a different kind for our sister site carforum.net I feel I can also contribute to this cause as well. And if by some strange phenomenon I get picked for both, I have more than enough time on my hands to excel at both positions. Anyway on to my actual skills.....

A little about myself:

My name is Erich and I enjoy computer gaming, computers, cars, and pretty much most things technical. At 18 years of age I joined the Army with the MOS of 25B (Information Operator/Analyst) and I am now out. I learned a great deal from the Army about computers to include enterprise level stuff to OS level. I am still currently working in the IT field.

Skills/Qualifications:

- Almost four years working in the IT field dealing with everything from user level applications to enterprise level servers

- I have spent the last 2-3 years off and on hosting and managing CSS servers. I have "ran" some other game server types like TF2, BF2142, ect but not enough to warrent listing it as a core skillset.

- I, being that I work currently at a help desk, have GREAT customer relation skills and knowledge.

- I know my way around installing most mods or can quickly figure them out, the same goes with any game server management.

I believe it to be fair to list my short commings as well:

- I do not know any coding language
- I dont know everything
- I am most certainly not familiar with every game server there is

Well I suppose thats it really. I want to keep it short and to the point. If there is anything else you would like to know about me or why I think I would be good for such a position please let me know.

Oh also I have my own CSS game server up and running so if you want to check it out feel free. Here is a link to game tracker http://www.gametracker.com/server_in...154.205:27015/

On this particular server I have not done hardley anything to it. I have someone working for me that has set this one up. I just wanted to state that, but anything done on said server I can also do.

(1) How are they pirated?

Sure, Jagex and Blizzard will ask you to take it down if it gets big, but other than that it's not illegal. It is, however, for people to connect to them (at least for WoW).

I do think it's responsible to say that I have ran them, and let the OCN staff decide whether they think it matters or not.

(2) Especially since you want the spot for yourself. I like your "take no prisoners" attitude. Personally, I don't work that way, so I'm not going to sit here and find flaws in you or anyone else.

I nominate myself. I spend a great deal of time on the website and I think most users would agree I am a helpful person. I have been gaming for quite a bit of time and I think I have adequate experience in this field for the position.

I strive to be well-spoken and professional and would do my best to make the Overclock.net gaming experience a good one.

Well Im no legal expert, and as this really isnt the place to argue about this I will just say Im pretty sure it is illegal to run emulated software using Blizzards WoW client.

Also I dont have a "take no prisoners" attitude. I just call it like I see it. I dont mean to offend you.

Good luck to you and everyone else.

I nominate myself. I am on the site every day, and on the CSS server most days. Even not being an admin, on the gungame server i tell people to watch their language constantly. I do believe the servers are undermoderated and want them to be a friendly place, free of all inappropriate things.

I believe i'm a great person for the job.

I'm totally willing to give Retrospekt my nomination. He has is really helpful and does so in a professional manner. He's also good at dealing with a wide range of people, so that would be excellent for the job at hand.
