Modding Stalker SoC

Thread Starter
I just got the game off steam and was looking into using some mods with it. Can somebody tell me how to get into the folders for the mods and does anybody have any suggested mods? I was looking around google and found some that looked pretty cool but then I couldn't find the folder to put them in/the file I needed to change for mods to work. A texture mod would be great if you know of a good one.

Thanks for any suggestions/help (I hope I'm not the only one who is asking these questions)

Oh they're under common not my account name, duh. Thanks.

I'm trying to oblivion one but I'm not really sure what it does.

EDIT:I downloaded the oblivion mod and unzipped it into the mod folder in stalker but I'm not noticing any difference.

I believe in STALKER you have to load the mod, was there a readme file with the oblivion mod?

I'm looking right now it says alot about modding other things, still gonna snoop around.

Thanks for the help.

Wait is that the point, do I just do what it says in the readme?

EDIT: found this- Place: (folder) 'gamedata' at: ...\\Program Files\\THQ\\S.T.A.L.K.E.R. - Shadow of Chernobyl in the readme, thanks a bunch, trying again now.

no problem, be sure to post back if it works so I know where to add it! I haven't gotten around to doing the modification to the game on this computer and forgot where to add it as well!

Yeah, any mods you just put into your common soc folder. Should be gamedata that you put in there. Once it's in there, you need to tell the game to load up the stuff you've added instead of what it has, just open fsgame.ltx in notepad and change a line.

Find the $game_data$ and overwrite it with this:
$game_data$ = true| true| $fs_root$| gamedata\\

I would really suggest playing it stock for the first go, as Oblivion lost has a very steep learning curve compared to the regular game.
