Northbridge Temperature

Thread Starter
I am running Prime95 again right now to test my stability at 3.6Ghz. I have my nb voltage set to 1.49v but really don't have any idea about northbridge temp since i can't see it anywhere.

In Everest, I can see Motherboard temp which usually shows 34C. Does this motherboard temp in Everest refers to nb temp actually or not ? If not is there anyway that I can see it ?

Vcore is set to 1.35v with LLC disabled ( 1.32v idle 1.28v load in cpu-z ). My idle temps at 3.6Ghz are 25C 28C 29C 34C. Underload when running Prime95 max i saw till now is 60C. Since I don't know any other app that would torture the cpu this much in daily use, does that mean I am in the safe zone for 24/7 use ?

Yes, I have two questions there and any quick reply would be much appreciated...

The program Everest by Lavalys
will show NB temps on most boards.
www.lavalys.com/

the program Intel burn test, stresses harder then prime95
http://downloads.guru3d.com/IntelBur...load-2047.html

And just a suggestion. 1.5v for NB is kinda high, go back to 1.4 area and stress with that.
Unless you have boot or post errors lower....

Also your first question, Motherboard temp is not your NB temp.

It looks like you've got a really good HSF set up with your Duorb blowing down and past the chipset/NB fins. You might want to test it with Orthos or something that can do a variety of stess-testing on your set-up.

Watch how your mobo temps move under different kinds of tests and make the decision from there. Looks pretty good so far!

1.55v is max one would like to push on a NB ... 1.5v is perfectly fine as far as i know

and about everest ... i thought motherboard temp is referring to your NB temps ... why would it tell you mb temp and not your NB temp ... its like u can only see you PCB temp on your video card and not GPU temp

In HW Monitor SYSTIN temp shows exactly the same 34C with mobo temp in Everest. Still have no idea if this refers to nb temp or something else..It should be nb temp what else can it be ?

Not that many boards report NB temp, the last ASUS board i owned didn't, it was p52n32e-sli, and its NB was hot enough to fry and egg! I had an evga 680i that did report NB temp, and it was normally in the 50-80c range.

My bet is this temp is your system/motherboard temp, not your NB.You said you saw a temp of 60c, what was reading 60c?

My p45 board doesn't have a sensor, its NB is barely warm to the touch, even under full load with 1880fsb! Id guestimate 40c max.

It was core 1 and core 4 reading 60C after an hour of running Prime95 Blend test. But usually all cores were about 50-55ish. 60C-61C was the max point. Motherboard temp never got over 40C. This is weird. Since I can't see my nb temp how will I now that it is /not overheating?

and there's no other way ? My Asus x38 P5E3 mobo runs with latest bios 1201 right now. Would flashing it to some other concordant bios help me see nb temp in windows ?
