nafljy, curly, Shiryu, kimo, Thank you for your continued support. So far, every bit of this build has been a real joy. I'm happy to share.

kimo, I know you're being facetious, but I think my exterior plans do need a little more explanation. For the most part, I want the case to look Lian Li stock from the outside.

The side panels are one exception:

What I plan to do is simply perforate the stock side panels in the same pattern as the mesh on the front. If I booger that up, I'll need to cut holes and make some sort of a grill / use some sort of mesh; but for now, the plan is to just drill out the perforations in the normal Lian Li style.

---

The other place I want to work on is the 5.25 bay area, here:

I played around with that already with my murderMod-esque front panel, but for several reasons, that wasn't doing it for me. I'm still up in the air on that one. I have a inch or so of clearance behind there for mounting if I want it, and could probably squeeze a little more space out of that area if I really needed it by moving the HD's back.

Other than those two things, and maybe some very small inconspicuous things (like the buttons and the feet); the outside will remain largely unmodified.

ah, i see! the stock perforations! thats brilliant! the only problem i can see is how tedious that will be.

while i agree that a vert touch screen would be cool... but i think it would stray away from his naming it Sleeper then.. but thats just my 2c.

will be stunning with a screen
but it'll be no more a sleeper......
and that's a fact

instead of 4 cover bays, can be a aluminum door in the bay area?, protectin' the screen (If...) or the DVD drive?? just that spot?

just wondering...perhaps am just dreamin' jejeje

let's see what he does

I see. Drilling those patterns is kinda nervewrecking I believe. I wouldnt even think about doing that without first making a template to lay over. But it would be worth it IMO. It would get a nice flowing impression and it would definitely make a statement of the overall look.

And here I sit without a drill press in sight...

Actually, an LCD screen, if done right, could be understated enough I might be able to get behind it. I'm thinking secondary monitor style with a desktop extension. Maybe a nice black hairline brushed wallpaper?

It's definitely not in the budget right now though. I'll think on that one.

A door. Now that's something I hadn't considered at all...

njaf, you just picked up the hot swap bay with the door on it, didn't you? Any chance I could get a pic or two of that hinge mechanism? I'm curious how they did that.

Yeah, a template will definitely be required. I can miss a hole that I punch and pilot. I swear.

I hope to find a perforated steel sheet out there with an acceptable hole size and stagger to use. If not, I'm thinking I'll be drilling one out of some eighth inch thick aluminum plate that I have.
