Computer locks up while watching streaming video

Thread Starter
I have this problem where my computer completely locks up at random when I am watching streaming video. Its more frequent when I am watching fullscreen but happens sometimes windowed. I removed my overclock and it didn't have any effect. Memtest turned up no problems. My PSU is plenty hefty enough. I can play games for hours with no problem. I'm wondering if it is the mobo. Im a little lost now though. Hopefully you guys have some insight.

Im running AVG Free Suite but it did it with Avast too.

It does it in Firefox or IE7. Justin.tv, ESPN360, MSNvideo... I cant figure this one out. I dont know what streaming video puts a strain on. Sometimes I can watch a whole football game on ESPN360 and sometimes it will freeze up afetr 10 minutes.

I just recently reinstalled windows and it was doing this before the reinstall too.

Have you tried to run orthos or prime 95? If so does it fail it?

Is it only when you stream video? Maybe it has something to do with your network card

That used to happen to me, turns out that it was a graphics card driver problem. Try updating to the newest drivers after running ccCleaner to remove any traces of the previous ones.

It handles Prime95 fine and as far as I can remember has only happened while streaming vid. Im running the newest drivers from nvidia and it did it on the earlier drivers too. This one has had me stumped for a while. Im wondering if I should just start replacing this thing piece by piece.

I think you should run prime 95 again. Just to make sure.

Edit: i just saw that you have Avast and AVG. are they both installed on your computer at the same time?

This used to happen to me!! Don't do whatever they say (sorry, but its true)

Updating flash, don't work.. its not a OC issue.

Right Click the Streaming Video > Settings > Uncheck Enable hardware Acceleration

FIXED!!

Really? I will give that a shot. Im hoping I can come back here and tell you I owe you one...

(Avast and AVG were installed at separate times. The problem existed regardless of which one I had)
