New Router Causing Choke?

Thread Starter
Well I play Counter Strike and other games and have been getting choke spikes, which I never had before. Sometimes I get in the 50s and IDK what its from, maybe the new router settings? I got this linksys http://www.linksys.com/servlet/Satel...=1684939789B01
Any settings I should fool with to get the choke back to 0? All my rates are fine in CS, its just nagging me alot. Thanks guys

are you using net_graph 3 in CS:S? what's telling you that you are experiencing choke, versus increased latency? are you using your wireless connection?

its best not to use wireless but if not well, try this

rate 20000
cl_updaterate 66
cl_cmdrate 66

i believe one of the cl rates are suppose to be lower than the other but that usually works good for me. idk, what do the "pros" say?

you shouldn't get choke w/ that router, what wireless adapter do you have? and how far are you from the router?

EDIT:

Quote:
If you are experiencing choke, you will need to change your rates lower. The correct ratio for update to command means cl_updaterate should be 3/4 of cmdrate (75% is good)-- *This means CMDRATE is higher than UPDATERATE by a pinch*. So, lower your rates, keeping ROUGHLY the same ratio. If your choke is 30, lower your rates about 30 (but make sure you still use the ratio of 75%). This would mean cl_updaterate 35 and cl_cmdrate 50 (thats 70% ratio, close enough)
