[quote=Azazel;5165701]I think you should get the Rock Band 2 disc only and then go on ebay and buy the peripherals individually. You can find some pretty decent deals on ebay for the stuff. I saw a pair of guitar hero :world tour guitars sell for 72 bucks.[/wuote]

I would just be a little wary about buying the used instruments...the instruments from both games have had their problems, and if you buy new you know that you have a warranty to fall back on. I had to have my Rock Band guitar replaced, and my GH guitar has never worked quite right.

Imo the guitar hero guitar is way better than the rock band one. I like that the buttons are a tad harder to push in and that it clicks when you strum. The guitar hero one just feels more sturdy and they almost never have problems with the od/star power activation.
You're a lucky one. My GH3 guitar goes into star power whenever the hell it feels like it. I have to try and play with the neck tilted below 90 degrees if I can to make sure it doesn't kick in early.

I was talking about the songs, not the instruments. Sorry if I was unclear. Sure, the instruments work on all games. But the songs from GH3, including any you may have purchased and downloaded, are not forward compatible with GH:WT. That's not the case with Rock Band, anything you previously purchased still works with Rock Band 2, and all but a handful of Rock Band 1's songs can be imported into Rock Band 2 for a small $5 fee.

A lot of stores have both available to try out. Give that a whirl and see which you like better.
And in fact, a lot of stores are selling the GH3 bundle for only $50! That's an amazing price, if you're more interested in the guitar game than drums and singing.
