Hey now, regardless of them being OVERPRICED and controlled by Steve Jobs evil Apple Empire its still a very good laptop. Its thin, fairly powerfull in the CPU department, slot loaded dvd drive and alluminum casing. Its still a good piece of hardware. I DONT like apples, I just know a good product when I see it. I would however recomend the studio 15 over the macbook because I like the 15" screen better and your not supporting evil apple.

dell studio 17 here I got the 17 becuase i wanted the better GPU.

Anyway you wont regret buying a studio they feel and look REALLY nice! and the quality is really good too. In my opinion the XPS isnt as nice and its more expensive for what you get

I see, I'm really debating between studio 15 or XPS 1530 (just on a side not, anyone know how long Dell usually ships?)

Depends on whether they have your specs in stock. They are pretty quick if you get the generic.

well i ordered mine on the 10th of dec and it got here on the 17th. But dell estimated the delivery date to be the 29th. So it actually got here 12days earlier I was really suprised when it turned up early especially when they said it could take longar because it christmas.

But yeah it depends on if they have what you want in stock. I picked the base model and only changed one thing (added the ati 3650) that could be why mine came a lot earlier.

You can check the status of your order also. Which is nice.

I just got my XPS M1530. I picked it up from Dell outlet for $719 with the following specs:

Vista 64 Home Premium
T8300 2.4GHz (45nm)
2x2Gb DDR2 667
8600M GT
Lg Philips 15.4WXGA+ Lcd (the best they offer)
DVD+- Dual Layer Burner
Wireless N

I would suggest you look into the outlet store as well.

BTW, here are some great links for the XPS M1530:

http://forum.notebookreview.com/show...t=M1530+lounge

Using some of these references, I knocked off over 15°C from my load temps (full speed, not speedstep).

Also note that NVIDIA has released rivers for the 8600.8400M GT video cards, and they can be OCed with eVGA's Precision utility:

NVIDIA has released mobile drivers that work with eVGA's Precision and RivaTuner

I started doing some research and found that RivaTuner works with these drivers. So of course I wanted to see if eVGA's Precision tool would work with my 8600GT mobile, and it does!

Did you do like ericeod and go outlet? I mean the the price he got, I have nothing but good things to say. I think 1530m is a solid system but think DeLL runs the last platform to the wall (Santa Rosa). And in many ways fine but dislike them charging top dollar and all. But yea they are good systems and 8600m GT will allow you to have some fun. It is a good 86 w/GDDR3 Maybe Crysis demo on medium. COD4 Demo 100+ frames maxed. Bioshock demo maxed (not resolution maybe) avg 30/35 fps.

Have fun!

Oh COD I think 200 fps!

I actually bought it online. I'm from Canada and I don't think we have outlet stores but I could be wrong. I'm hoping it ships sometime next week
