Some first time help on buying a good fan+heatsink.

I have a Q9300 I wanna cool down. What would be a good heatsink to buy that can fit in a mid-tower case and be able to fit on a GA-EP43-DS3L Mobo?

I have a tight fit in the motherboard. (See here: http://www.gigabyte.com.tw/FileList/...3-ds3l_big.jpg)

The MCH Northbrigde chipset is really close to the CPU so I don't know how big of a fan I can have in here.

Thanks.

If you are going to stick with mild-moderate OC then there a re several options:

The Xigamek rifle cooler is a good one
The Noctua in my sig
The Tuniq Tower
The Thermalright Ultra 120 Extreme (TRUE) *if you lap it*

These are all good choices, and I believe you have enough clearance for any of them (possibly the Tuniq could be trouble, but I doubt it.) They are all fairly tall, so they can reach across your case pretty well.

It would help if we knew what your case was.

Your NB HS will not touch the big heatsinks the guy up there mentioned and also for your midtower case as well.. I had Antec 900 before and it was able to fit both Tuniq Tower and the TRUE..so you are fine..UNLESS there is a fan on the side..you might not be able to put on the side case fan..unless you do some modification on the fan (cut the corner)

I'll vouch for the XIGMATEK HDT-S1283 If your in the states, Newegg has it for 37$ w/ a $10 dollar rebate. I will highly stress that you need to buy the bolt-thru kit (XIGMATEK ACK-I7751) on it tho. which can also be obtained from newegg for $9

Cheers

I actually thought that the Tuniq Tower looked the best.
I searched the rewiews on newegg for "q9300" and a lot of people said it kept it really cool.

I found this review on the Tuniq: "Pros: It Cools Amazingly, im running my Q9300 at 3.6ghz with an fsb of 1915 in my 790i ultra."

HOLY ****! 3.6GHz! That's awesome.
