Acceptable use policy - Page 2

an acceptable use policy is flat out retarded for inside your own personal home. sorry bout being harsh, but i've drank tequila......... #1 its the privacy of YOUR OWN HOME, #2 its your own mom and bloody sister. what the hell are they gonna do, download mp3's?

the RIAA quit suing individuals for downloading/uploading MP3's.......

/endrant

if you really wanted to control what your mummy and sissy looked at, you'd run a MS2003 server and put AD on it, give each of them user name and logon's and lock them out of anything at all besides web browsing...

Now THAT is something I can get behind. When you're talking about making a use policy for people that you fix/build computers for, thats a whole different story. When making one for your own household.. well.. Mudd summed it up..

ok since nobody else wants to help and just be retarded flamers, here ill offer some useful advice.

make a logon notice, it can be done easily in win2k+ machines using gpedit.msc (group policy editor)

all you have to say is All users of this computer are responsible for their own actions, the administrator of this network holds no liability as to the use of, or content on this network. The Administrator of this network is not responsible for loss of, or damage to property of any kind, including but not limited to money, intellectual property, violation of any laws or any other offence for which there may be penalty or penalties. It is your own responsibility to verify that your actions are legal and appropriate. By continuing past this prompt, you are accepting the aforementioned conditions and are absolving the Administrator of any responsibility or liability for any of the aforementioned damage or penalties. NOW GO TO YOUR ROOM!

.. or something.

the good part of this setup, is that you can update it at any time, and your 'users' need only click, rather than sign. Like most EULAs they dont even need to read if they dont want to, just accept

I think all it needs to say is like a list of the parts and SN# of the computer, and I "their name" take full responsibility for any and all legal action that is taken for any and all things this computer (parts list/SN# here)is used for.

I think this is what your asking for right?

:edit: Hmm mine wasn't as good as K's

you are forgetting what an "acceptable use policy" is for. a policy isn't even for a computer repair man. FYI before i go into my big rant, i am IT manager at my company where i work...

an acceptable use policy is for a business/company who has people working on YOUR computers that you are responsible for. it outlines what is of course RIGHT and what is WRONG to use your computer for. it also outlines what you can be FIRED for.

as a computer repairman (whatever you want to call yourself) how can you make your customers write an "acceptable use policy"??? you can't, its not your property and it is totally bogus.

maybe in the future when you get into the IT field and have a salary job where you boss ppl around, it'll work.

(not flaming just ranting + drunk hi5 tequilaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa)
