Would this be a good gaming pc??? - Page 2

For that system the stock CPU cooler will be fine, in terms of GFX cards i would recommend this

A good power supply would be necessary too, never use case power supplies with high power rigs

I would throw out the power supply that comes with the case. IMO, PSUs that come with cases seem to generally be cheap and lacking in quality. The PSU is the one thing you definitely don't want to skimp on for your rig, as unstable or unreliable units can actually damage the other components or just simply under perform.

I'd pick up a Corsair PSU from Buy.com

For a video card, I'd recommend an HD4830 or HD4850 if you can spring for it. I'm suggesting ATI cards, because the X38 chipset motherboard you selected has Crossfire capability (something you might consider down the road).

I would totally go with either a 9800gt or a 4850! The 9800gt is going for about $110 right now depending on the brand, and it performs pretty great. You could get a cheaper cpu and just get an aftermarket cooler, because my e7200 overclocks great. Also the e8400 or e7300 is good too. And also get a good power supply, I got a 600watt and it is coolio and not a bad price. So, 9800 gt or 4850, a better power supply, and a cheaper processor! That all, good luck!!!

RAM: G.Skill 2x2GB DDR2 800MHZ "PQ"

Total comes to $601.93 (if I did my math right).

That leaves you ~$100 for a case of your choosing.

That doesn't include an OS, keyboard/mouse, speakers, or aftermarket CPU cooling... but since you didn't mention those in your original list, I left them out.

What would be a good cpu cooler/heatsink?

Cancel that...it looks like there is one included w/ the cpu..would that be good enough?
