Would this be a good gaming pc??? - Page 3

downgrade your cpu to an e8400 and use the extra $20 towards a better video card. an EVGA 9800GTX+ or MSI 9800GT is what you should shoot for.

Also, dont get that case! get atleast a coolermaster 590 + 4x120mm fans or a Coolermaster 690 + 4x120mm fans. They have way better cable management and better airflow, which allows for greater temps.

If you're not going to overclock, the stock cooler will work fine.

If you are going to overclock, pick up a Xigmatech HDT S-1283.

That is one excellent build. Just do these couple things to save over $40 (without changing a single hardware component).

E8400 + GIGABYTE GA-EP45-UD3P COMBO Deal: $10 savings
Sapphire HD4870 promo code EMCBCCCDA: $15 savings
Microsoft Live 2.75% Newegg Cashback: ~$19 or more savings (on entire build order)

If you are going to overclock I would buy either the XIGMATEK HDT-S1283 or the ZEROtherm ZEN FZ120. Otherwise the stock cooler will do fine.

Xigmatek hdt-1283 is a good hs and its cheap
Seriously, the Xigmatek is simply unbelievable. See what I am running and take a look at the results I am getting. Simply the best.

Your CPU choice is a very good one, but the board is over kill. Someone suggested a very good Gigabyte board go with that one. Add some media here and there and like most have said, GPU, just invest in something really good.

9800GTX+
260

These Nvidia will run you between $160 to $200

Radeon HD 4870
Radeon HD 4850

These ATI will run you between $160 to $250

And don't wast your time with SLI or Crossfire, in the end you really just need one, save your money. Also if you can try to get free shipping on ALL the components you will be buying, in the end you will be able to budget more for your build.
Work in progress!

Corsair 750tx or pc power & cooling 750watt are both good power supplys. Vista 64bit would be fine for a gaming computer.
