Current new Atoms are 1.6GHZ Dual core with hyperthreading. They should easily run Vista Home Premium and run the internet and maybe play a solid game of Quake 3 no problem
I asked because I recently got me a Netbook. (It does have the 1.6GHz Intel Atom.) Though RAM is upgradable to 1.5GB... but if they can start handling Vista when XP is dropped, then I have no worries on those line of computers.

Use CPU-Z to see what Atom it is.

It should support at least 2GB since it uses the same 945 chipset as all other netbooks.
Once again...

Been using 98 (waaayy back, I can hardly remember), 2000 (for a few years until XP), and XP ever since ~2004. I switched to Vista when I built this computer, 64-bit, and I reimaged 2 weeks later to XP.

I just don't like it. It tries too hard to show off, and it's not easy (or in some cases possible) to disable all the extra **** that I don't want. I hope in Windows 7, they launch it when it's actually finished, not when it's stable. I don't feel like running XP for a year till they fix all the launch bugs.
Blackbox.

Windows 7 so far runs better on my rig then Vista. And it's not even in BETA yet! I can't wait to see the finished product. It might actually run faster than XP

Nope, DOS wasn't stable at all. I means it was stable while being in the command prompt, but when you run a program, you start praying, and getting prepared for CTRL+ALT+DEL.
You know, DOS has one of the worst memory management, probably because "Nobody will ever need more than 640 kB RAM.", and LIM standard was new, but DOS foundations had been laid.
Another problem in DOS was that the kernel was running in the user-space, or maybe the programs ran in the kernel space.. which was good because you can write drivers, that are programs, but a program could crash the whole system.

Guess what. Windows 3.1 was a program that runs in DOS, and you probably know this. You probably even know that Windows 98 and Windows ME run in DOS, maybe the main reason being so unstable.
