Heh, can't say you're the only one to do it!
Yeah, the internet can be a pretty intimating place when it wants to be...

What's a safe vCore to run the Q6600 at 24/7?

Also, would you say it was Ok to disable CIEST1 and whatever ever else (?) there is? I don't want my PC eating up power all the time, lol.

Thanks!

as long as temps are good you can run a q6600 at 1.5-1.55V no problem....but usually at those voltages temperatures are pretty high.

And you can disable speedstep and C1E whatever it's called....dropping the mhz really doesn't do anything significant in terms of power usage. Dropping the voltage will do it a little more but as soon as you overclock it won't drop the voltage during idle.

Ah, Ok. I really want to try for 3.6Ghz tomorrow, so I'm just checking so that I don't put too much through it. I checked and I'm at 1.45 in the BIOS and 1.42 in Windows, So I'm hoping I only need around 1.47 in the BIOS. That sound about right?

Ok, I'll disable them, then! Thanks again, dude!

I'm running my Q6600 at 3.6GHz at 1.4875 in BIOS with loadline calibration (Vdroop control) on. It's been solid for three months straight doing 24x7 folding.

Excellent! Thanks for the info! I'll give that a try! I'm hoping I don't need too much more.

You think anything under 1.5v is safe for 24/7 use, won't shorten the life too much, right?

I personally know people running q6600s at 1.55-1.6V and have been doing so for years 24/7. Although that's fine, personally I would get a bit paranoid running voltages like that....1.5 and under would keep my mind at ease.

I wouldn't worry, just keep an eye on the temps....try to keep them below 75-80c during the small fft test. They won't get nearly that high during normal use.

Wow! Don't think I'd do that any time soon, lol. Yeah, you and me both, if it' snot stable at less than 1.5v, forget it. Haha.

Alright, thanks again!
