I hooked a hard drive up to my computer through the rear port that they gave me with my motherboard. When I turned it on it hummed for about 1/2 of a second and now when i hit the power button nothing happens. Any ideas?

Personally I don't think so.

I unplug PSU, flip switch off. Remove battery, press power button, use the jumper, press power button and then replace battery and cmos jumper, instant wipe of everything.

I'm not sure what jumper you are talking about. Do you think i could have damaged my equipment?
