Choosing memory for GA-EP45-UD3P + Q9550

Thread Starter
I'm making a new PC build, so. I'm trying to choose a good RAM for Q9550 + GTX260 on UD3P Motherboard. It would be my first time trying to overclock something so I want to take most popular and good mamory. I don't want VERY expensive decision , I want popular and good one. Like Q9550 - is probably the most popular processor now and Gigabyte EP45-UD3P is the best MB now and I can easily find all information about them, so I want the same with memory.
Which one and how many would you recommend me?
4 or 8 Gb?

The amount really depends; 4gb if you are going to stick with a 32-bit OS (though you won't be able to use all of it) or if you are going to get a 64-bit OS, you COULD get 8gb, but unless you do a lot of video editing or similar memory-hogging tasks, 4gb will be more than enough.

Also, it depends whether you want to stick with standard ram, or shell out extra cash for overclocked ( >800mhz) stuff.

for standard Ram, you really can't go wrong with
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16820231122

there is a DDR2-1000 version of that for $5 more
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16820231145

for DDR2-1066 Ram, anything in the first 7 results on this page should be fine
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...%20(PC2%208500)

OR, you could go for broke and spend a ridiculous amount of $$ on these babies

With my Q9550 & Gigabyte EP45-UD3P mobo I'm using GSkill 4gb (2x2gb) DDR2-1000 which urgrandpasdog posted already.

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16820231145

I have that ram overclocked to 1032mhz. I haven't had much spare time in attempting to overclock my Q9550 to at least 4.0ghz.

That GSkill ram is good enough since I don't game at all. I use my Q9550 system strictly for video encoding. I actually got stuck with that GSkill ram from a build that I did last month. I ended up having to use a different mobo for that build because this GSkill ram was not compatible. So I decided to use it when I upgraded to a Q9550 cpu & UD3P mobo.

I just bought a UD3P and 4GB Corsair Dominators 1066 and they're running great!! I run 'em tight at 1:1 for CPU testing or at 1130MHz with stock timings for gaming/benching.

They won't OC like the old D9s but still some of the best DDR2 around these days...

G.Skill is also excellent. The PQ and PK series are in the same class as the Dominator but minus the superior cooling and the included fan... 4GB PQ 1000MHz kit in my workstation has run flawlessly for 6 months.
