How to go beyond 3.5GHz of Q6600

Thread Starter
I suspect it is the A-DATA DDR2 1066MHz modules which hinder me from going higher than 3.5GHz.

Will replacing the DDR2 1055 by DDR3 help me overclock the Q6600 to 3.6 and beyond?

Run a different divider.
I'm doing 420*9 with my ram at 1008mhz.

No, the RAM will not hold you back. It's impossible to give much further advice, since you didn't provide any details beyond what RAM you have.

try using 1:1 fsb ram ratio first,
just to eliminate the ram speed issue
then just overclock the way you did
and if the cpu stills get stuck at 3.5ghz
since q6600 got a 9 multipler,most people with q6600 often go with 9x400 which is 3.6ghz
400 fsb is fairly common to the G0 rev. q6600
if still no luck, you can try continue to up your cpu voltage, but it all depends on if you got a good enough cooling setup to support the higher freq, and higher voltage.

I also heard that Q6600 is made for a FSBRAM 1:1 configuration. The trouble I am getting right now is that the BIOS of P5Q Deluxe doesn't allow me to do a 1:1 adjustment.

In fact, when I purchased the DDR2 1066MHz RAM, I just thought I chose 1066 is because the CPU's FSB is also 1066. I didn't choose DDR3.

Would DDR3 helps to overclock to 3.6 and above?

I have noticed one of you is using Asus new heat sink, is that better than Zalman 9700LED?

If you have FSB 400, then 1:1 is DDR2-800. You've plenty of room with your RAM.
