Computer Not Booting

Thread Starter
So the power went out today, so I decided to do my monthly routine cleaning a little early.

I cleaned it and put it back together and pressed the power button, and all the fans started spinning, but there was no post or beeps.

I held down the power button (which normally shuts off my computer) but that didn't work so I pulled the power cord.

I was like "omg wft did I do wrong???" So I checked my connections, and realized that my CPU power was not plugged in. I plugged that in, and booted up again, thinking I figured it out, but again there was no beeps or post. All the fans are going.

Could forgetting to plug in the CPU power have blown something?

Reset the CMOS and check all components that they're inserted well and all powers cords are connected right. I think you just hitted something important, no beeps probably means that the motherboard is dead.

Probably not.

Usually the best thing to do is rebuild/reseat everything. It's probably something easily overlooked, or bad connection.

Ok, I am going to redo all the connections.

I could have to speaker plugged in wrong, cause there are only 2 connectors (red and black) and 4 pins.

Check to see if you need to plug in the 4/8 pin CPU power in addition to the 20/24 pin mobo connector.

Ok, we are back to no beeps. The 1 long beep was due to me not having my GPU power plugged in.

At least we know that the speaker is in right.
