its the bios, non refrence boards register as 4800 series because the bios's are not sent to ati for testing. only official bios's register exactly what the card is. drove me nuts with my 3870s till someone explained it to me. I flashed all the bios's on my 3870's to older ati bios's and they showed up as 3870. put the shipping bios's back on them and they registered as 3800series. its not gonna hurt your performance at all.

4850s and 4870s are often lumped together under the series umbrella "4800". Looks like you have a 4850. One way you can tell is by price. The other is by power consumption: the 4850 has one 6-pin, the 4870 has two.

The fan on mine (not same model, Ik) is inaudible up to about 90%. Factory settings keep the fan off most of the time, but I'm not sure about your 1 rpm...
