Intel Burn Test / Stability

Thread Starter
Hi all,

I have 10 successful runs with Intel Burn Test, played some games, ran 3D mark 06 and 3d mark Vantage successfully. When Intel Burn Test was running I saw temps went up to values like 71C 71C 72C 72C. my idle temps are like 29C 29C 31C 34C. Vcore is set to 1.375v in bios with LLC disabled.

Is it enough to say it is stable at 3.6Ghz ? Also would like to have ideas about if these settings are good for 24/7 use ?

cpu multi 8.0
fsb freq 450
fsb strap to nb 266
dram freq ddr-3 1353mhz
cpu voltage 1.375v (drops to 1.34v idle 1.29-1.30v load in cpu-z)
cpu pll 1.54v
nb voltage 1.49v
fsb termination 1.34v
llc disabled
cpu gtl x0.63
nb gtl x0.67

Well, good news then Thanks for the feedback error10.

I have ran prime95 for 4 hours without any errors but then just got bored and stopped it. I have been doing lots of things (encoding, playing etc.) with these settings for nearly 2 days by now. But to be sure I just decided to run a test but prime95 was taking so long to run. So since I heard that Intel Burn Test could give you an idea about your system stability in a shorter time i decided to give it a go and it really looks very stable till now...

Yes i will. But something's really annoying me. I have no idea about my northbridge temp since i can't see it anywhere. All i see in Everest, hw monitor other than cpu, hdd and gpu temp is mobo temp which is usually between 34-38C.

The P5E3 doesn't have a NB temp sensor.

I was wondering if there is anything like a thermal management for northbridge on P5E3 that would shut the system down before it fries up. I couldn't find any info even on the Asus site. Do you have any idea ?

Btw after being stable at 3.6ghz I was able to make this Q9400 boot into windows with 3.7Ghz but did not run any stability tests yet at all...

The temps are running a little on the high side for my tastes, but it does look stable. Have you considered lapping the CPU and heatsink? It may drop the temps down another 1-5C which would give you a little bit of a cushion in case the room temp or humidity creeps up.

Don't bother lapping that heatsink man....

Get a TRUE and lap that.

But yeah, I'd say thats stable.

This is a bit excessive but I like to run loads of loops:
