Ati 4670. Doesn't require any external power connections.

That seems crazy... some 300W psu's do not have the 6 pin power cable either which can be annoying to use the adapters. i would personally play it safe and go with the HD4670 which requires no extra power cables.

HD 4670 / HD 4830 Stock / 9600GT / 8800GT / 9800GT

I wouldn't buy anything above that unless you upgrade your PSU you can buy a 500w PSU with good 12v Amp for cheap nowadays

It all depends on your PSU (Brand, Quality).

I ran a 300W Bestec (pretty high AMPs on the 12V rail) with my G92 8800GTS and a 1.5V E6300. Folded GPU2 and SMP 24/7. According to my kill-a-watt meter it was pulling a tad over 260W from the wall. Factor in 70% efficiency and it was within its limits.

With that being said, this $25 (after MIR) OCZ 500W is a VERY GOOD DEAL.

It will be lucky if a generic 300w psu has 200w on 12v. Most don't. Check the lable to see what's number on 12v. Before know this, I won't put any higher than 8800GS/9600GSO/4670.

I wouldn't push it too much, especially if it's a no-name brand PSU. 4670 would probably be you best bet, and like others have said, it doesn't need a extra power connection.
