BFG 9600GT OC 512mb question.

Thread Starter
If I can play COD4 on 1280x1024 (native resolution) with all high settings with 45-55 FPS, what can I expect from the 9600GT OC? I got the free AGP upgrade to PCI-E from BFG. How well would it play COD5 or Crysis?

It'll be a great improvement over a AGP card, that's for sure.

All of them include Crysis and COD4.

It will gain lots of performance from agp to pcie. I just installed a 9600GT in a clients machine and he can play nearly everything on his 9600GT. BF2 gets 90fps maxed with 4xaa 1280x1024. Crysis was optimized for the 9600GT as well so should perform better than an 8800GTX at lower res.

Or the 9600gt was optimized for Crysis.. Well either way.

No....I have a 8600GT in my rig now. The AGP card was laying around and I took advantage and got the free upgrade. I guess the question should have been, "Will the 9600GT be a improvement (noticible) over the 8600GT?

Yes, it will still be a great improvement.

The Bit-tech and PC Perspective reviews have the 8600GTS in them, and your card is weaker than that.

If it helps at all, I just upgraded from a 8600GT to a 9600GT and the difference is amazing.
I've already recommended the 9600 to a few of my friends who are on a budget [like I was].

A 9600GT is easily 2-3x faster than an 8600GT

im pretty sure 9600GT's are close to performance with G80 8800GTS's, and i get a pretty constant 75FPS in cod4 (have vsync turned on).

everything set to max, AA up full, the whole shabang (just 1280x1024)

9600GT is a wonderful card for 1440x900. You will not be disapointed.

Don't bother comparing the 8600gt to it. You really can't.
