Q6600 vs Dual Xeon E5310 for MySQL Server

Thread Starter
The company I work for is pricing out a server to host some sites (ASP.net) and a MySQL database on. At this point, the server does not get a tremendous number of hits, but (hopefully ) will in the future. So my question is, which do you think will be better for processing these website hits? I was initially leaning toward the dual Xeons, but then realized they only run at 1.6ghz, whereas the Q6600 is running at 2.4ghz. So, while the Xeons may be able to process more concurrently, the Q6600 should be able to process each hit more quickly. I also read somewhere that MySQL does not scale well over more cores. The price difference is about $60 a month (Xeons being more expensive).

Any thoughts?

You need to run at least MySQL 5.0 to take advantage of multiple processors/cores. Personally I'd get the Q6600.
