Which seems kinda flawed considering the fact that if you really pile it on there, it's going to be hotter because at some point the interface material will start to act as an insulator. This will obviously vary processor to processor and heatsink to heatsink. It doesn't take 10 minutes to apply paste, it takes 30 seconds and an old card of some sort, that's all. Don't see what you're spending 10 minutes on >.>.

Anyway, This seems kinda overkill, and it doesn't even solve the problem of the RROD, lol. Unless that retention mechanism applies a godawful amount of pressure.

No it won't run faster.

The main reason for RROD is the heatsinks solder being "worn" out due to many heat cycles.

This eliminates this problem since the heatsinks are your own.

My RROD was from the DVD drive going. It always would do random things from time to time, nothing major, but it got more and more frequent, to the point where after 2 years it stopped loading games sometimes, then eventually I got a few crashes, and about 30 minutes later it finally RROD. I would imagine with all the info out there on how bad the original DVD drives were, that most RROD's would be from those failing and not from overheating.
