Christ why does every phenom II thread go down to insults and mindless bickering. I want phenom to rock. Competition brings down price. But seriously, people calling others idiots for an i7 purchase, and i7 users saying phenom is a worthless cpu is just silly.

Stop the madness.

What the ____ are you talking about? An i7 920 can be purchased for under $300 (as mine was) if you shop right, and you don't NEED to get expensive triple channel memory, either. You can get a budget dual channel kit of DDR3 1333 memory instead. You can get 4gb for below $90.

The only aspect of the i7 that is still more expensive is the motherboard. But, the prices will go down, and they will get even cheaper when the mainstream boards come out as well.

So in reality, an i7 system is only going to cost you maybe an extra $100 or $150 over a Phenom II system, and that is assuming you do get an expensive $300 motherboard. OMG it's the end of the world!

There are also i7 920s that have been hitting 4.1-4.2ghz stable on air cooling, with voltages that the Phenom II wouldn't even POST at (see the x58/i7 overclocking thread at XS). I can also get a suicide shot at 4.2GHz, and I am using the stock cooler, which currently does 3.8GHz 24/7 prime stable. It can do higher stable, but gets too hot for comfort.

Stop talking crap about the i7 when you don't even know what you're talking about (to everybody). I am not a fanboy and I do admit that AMD has put out a damn good CPU with the Phenom II.

They'll have a hard time at it though.

I don't know about you newegg addicts, but around here an i7 is about 300e for a CPU, another 250e for the mobo and this is with the *cheapest* available products. I doubt a Phenom 2 CPU + mobo would cost more than half as much. Almost sounds like 48xx vs GT2xx from earlier this year

Last time I checked, I saw a benchie where the Phenon II actually beat the i7 in crysis, lol, by about 2fps, and other shows it just 2 fps behind. So, the low end Phenon II overclocked to 3.8 and the low clocked i7, overclocked to 3.8, there is a 200 bucks difference, at least, where you get 2 fps increase, and thats only half the time

Lol, everyone who games should really only get a 8400 and overclock it to 3.8 to 4.0. That versus a q6600 at max of 3.2 - 3.6.... e8400 = win D:
so is the low end phenom going to be $100 dam if they put out at that price point they will take the market by storm.

How the hell is 1.55v a suicide shot anyway?

It's ONLY 15% more voltage versus stock. Most of you pump more % voltages into your Penryns and Nehalems and it's hardly suicidal.

"Hi im an AMD fanboy, im bored so im going to troll this thread and start a flame war between processor manufacturers!"

That is all i got for your post.... the first post and nothing about the topic commented on... just a freaking fanboy comment to get the :turd: flying. Seriously a "AMD FTW!" while lame as well would have been 100x better instead of attacking other members for purchasing another brand because it appealed to them.at least contribute something to the thread.

Ontopic: Did they release what the load temps were like? i couldn't find any. i know those zalman heatsinks are notorious for not handling core 2 quads overclocked very well and keeping the temps low. thanks for posting, i cant wait for more benchmarks from big name sites .

I can't wait for these to be released, whether it means getting one or it not being as good a value as Intel but maybe dropping prices so I can pickup a E8400 or E8500 for cheap, either way I really need a new computer.

You know, the AMD fanboys around here need to get off the Intel guys, If they want to spend $20 billion on an Intel cpu, Let them, it is their money and their choice. Im glad to see AMD doing good, and I plan to purchase a Phenom II soon. But just because AMD got a good chip out does not mean you need to be an ass to someone who paid more for a different chip.
