[BT] iPod invented by furniture salesman - Page 2

i read an article that apple stole the spin-wheel (w/e its called) design from creative.
If Apple admitted it, they obviously had some sort of copying going on there. This man will soon be rich.

Its common knowledge that Apple doesn't invent stuff. They just take things that are already around and move them one step further into Awesomeland.

True but a Patent in the US will cost you around $20,000 ($5000 to file, $15000 in attorneys if your lucky). I'm pretty sure you have to really believe in your invention to spend that kind of money. Back then, everyone was probably telling him that he was crazy and that cassettes were the end all audio storage device...

Certain technologies often evolve and get better. And in this case, guess what... this one has! (See: modern MP3 players)

You sound like someone who mocked the automobile during it's conception.

"But horse drawn carriages are quieter, faster, and more reliable! The automobile, you say!? . . . 'tis nothing but an useless contraption!"

The only difference is, you already know the MP3 Player turns out to be a popular, effective device.

You mistook what I was saying. The fact that he thought of it is brilliant. The fact that it only held 3.5 minutes of music is hilarious. I wonder how he even got the music on his research model. There were MP3 players out before the iPod so it's not like this guy nor Apple invented them. Apple just took this guy's design for the look and control of the product.

I remember reading this article when it was first published but I knew nothing would come of it. The man deserves credit though, whatever he planned was amazing and definitely ahead of its time. Too bad...it was a little too ahead of its time.
