AMD CPU benefit more from ATI?

Thread Starter
My title says it all. I was just curious if having a ATI graphics card is more beneficial if I have an AMD CPU. My computer is only 2 months old and I already want to make some upgrades

I would love to upgrade my mobo and gpu(either SLI or xfire), any suggestions?

Would love to be ready to just throw in a phenom II later on in a few months as well...

There is no brand preference, there is only performance. I don't know which is better at stock, but generally, Intel platforms to better across the board than with the Phenoms.

clock for clock, q6600 and phenom 1's are equal. and since, the new q6600 can't clock for crap, the max they'll probably do is 3.3-3.4 which is the limit for the 9950's

The Q9xxx are faster (barely), but way more expensive.

@OP, just stick with what you have, possibly put a OC on the Phenom and get a GTX260 or something, and just wait for the next generation.

I think this is a fairly controversial statement.
EDIT: I believe I misunderstood nevermind.

The mobo I currently have does not allow me to OC as I am not able to manually change my voltage. The max is 1.25 hence the reason I want a new mobo.

Also the reason why I was considering a switch to ATI was because it seems that there are better mobos for ATI chipset...

Actually, Core2 does have a slight advantage over Phenom I clock-for-clock, the Q6600 @ 2.4GHz is pretty much on par with the 9950 @ 2.6GHz.

i think the margin is slower than that. it's debatable. you can see a clear intel lead in encoding, but when it comes to games, 1-2 frames, is negligible IMO.

actually, i agree with you. i was expecting much more people to start bashing me because i said that phenom 1's and Q6600's *gasp!* are marginally equal.

For the OP: Not really, AMD plays nice with nVidia in my Civil War box.
