Hello noobie with a question about amd

I just wondering if the motherboard says compatible with am2+ does that mean am2 and am2+ or only am2+ because i want to know if these 2 work together

and also does this motherboard work with this cpu? i think it does but just want to make sure

Yes that processor will definitely work with that motherboard. The difference between AM2 and AM2+ is the HT speed (4000 for AM2 5200 for AM2+), but even Phenom's don't take full advantage of the AM2+'s speed. In any case, the two are compatible either way (AM2+ CPU with AM2 MOBO / visa versa), but you might notice a slight performance decrease in CPU's with AM2+ on an AM2 board.

The CPU you're looking at is AM2, however, so all of this is just babble, haha. Go with the AM2+ MOBO for better support of future CPUs.

Also, you might as well upgrade a little more to an Athlon X2 6000+...it's usually about the same price but with a higher speed and more cache.

Yep, that's the one, it will work with that motherboard, and the best thing is you can upgrade to a quad later on. I didn't see how many watts that motherboard supports as a maximum, but I'm sure you can slap a 9850 when you have some more dough. In fact, you should go for a 9850 BE

I just recently bought that mobo and if you plan on overclocking the max voltage you can set it at is 1.25v. I had bought that mobo before discovering Overclock.net. Currently looking for a new mobo, in a month of browsing this site I went from completely clueless to feeding my brain with some knowledge and I want more out of my rig

I have a 9950 BE the same one on my sig rig. Got it to 2.8Ghz Stable about 13 hours on prime95. I was able oc to 2.9Ghz and ran Prime95 for 4 hours without issue however when I arrive back from work the comp was on hibernate and when I started it up again I was unable to do anything as my comp had froze. So I just moved it back to 2.8Ghz and content with it till I get a new mobo.
