At the moment, I am running 6 High speed (88cfm) Yate Loon fans at full speed on my MCR320 radiator. While loud, they are definitely tolerable. Unfortunately, I purchased the fans, which have sleeve bearings, with the intent of running them vertically. Now that they are mounted horizontally I am getting clicking and buzzing noises intermittently. I simply cannot stand this. Realizing that I must use ball bearing fans, I began searching around. I have come to the conclusion that if I am to spend a lot on ball bearing fans, I might as well use Deltas. The particular model I am considering is the http://www.sidewindercomputers.com/deaf12suhisp.html. To handle the high power draw, I am considering using http://www.sidewindercomputers.com/laf5mi3swba.html. My question is whether the 7V intermediate position of the controller will decrease the fan speed enough to be roughly equal to or less than the sound of my current fans. Any other suggestions or input on my fan and controller selection is also welcome.
