What? Just because he can read kanji doesn't mean he did any work in regards to interpreting what is actually there. That's like saying: "Hey, I read Faulkner. Interesting story, but I thought it sucked." As far as I'm concerned, it seems that those cryptic messages to indeed have some deeper meaning. They didn't put it there just for dramatic effect (though, I'm sure that was part of it).
Also, I don't think any of that pertains to real life.
