Disk write-protected?

I am trying to flash my motherboard with p31 bios but i get Disk write-protected while trying to flash it from a cd rom. What is this and how do i get it off?

You could try and get one of the updates here:

MSI BIOS Files

Then put the extracted files onto a USB Flash Drive or Floppy Drive and make sure either of them are write-enabled, sometimes the flash update writes a log or other data where the source files are located.
