Wow. I guess public image goes out the window with the RIAA. What a bunch of jackasses.

Wow... That's just plain dirty. The RIAA should be ashamed, then abolished altogether

They just said that they would stop their campaign of suing individuals unless they are very heavy downloaders. The article says she only was sharing 10 songs. If they call that a heavy sharer then they have an language problem.

Ugh... It's because she didn't defend herself in court according to the wording in the article; it had nothing to do with whether she could afford an attorney. What I don't understand is why they are speaking out against it now. Why not do it before when they were supposed to show up in court? Unless there is more to the story than was written in that article, I'm sorry to say that she dropped the ball. If she didn't do it then she should have stepped forward before, namely in court.

It also doesn't make sense for it to be her Dad unless the ISP was stupid and allowed him to set up the account in her name and her address despite setting up the account at another address. I hope this works out for her!

On a side note, I'm tired of people claiming you should get a free pass if you are in dire conditions. If you broke the law then you broke the law. If she didn't break the law then I hope she escapes unscathed.

She couldn't defend herself in court because she couldn't afford a lawyer due to medical debts.
