[vr-z] GeForce GTX 285 performance compared to GTX 280 - Page 3

They only look misleading because I bet 30% of us just glance at the graph, and just watch how big those bars are. The other 79% read the axis', and can tell that the performance is only 10%. That other 1% will just call bs no matter what the graph says

285 looks good
but nvidia should make something better than 285
so nvidia can take the performance crown back from ati

I was thinking about punching the button on a pair of those $350 BFG 280s but I'll wait and see where these start in price.Knowing NV they'll be $450+ and considering they are cheaper to make that just sux.I do like the 2*6pin compared to 6 + 8.

Anyone know what the actual difference is between 280 and 285? Is it just on a 55nm Process? It has the same stream processors, same amount/type of memory, and uses less power....I can only assume it's just the process.

Also, I don't know why people rant about multi-card setups. My machine runs great with no "microstuttering" or other issues mentioned.

I went overboard with my setup, with more RAM (and everything else) than I'd ever need, and I know some people will complain that they don't have that kind of cash lying around. I'm not trying to brag, just saying that multi-card isn't as bad as it's made out to be. Kind of like how people still seem to hate vista. XD

The best thing about this is that the price of the 260 (both versions) and 280 will have to come down to make room for that price point. ^___^

I wanna know whats better 2 of these or tri sli gtx 280, cuz it seems the tri sli will still scale better. It seems ATI nor Nvidia can get any real good scaling on quad GPU's.

Your thinking of the GTX 295 (basically two gtx 260's sandwiched together and took 240 proc cores instead of 192 or 216)

From the last bench i looked at though i think tri sli 280 beat the quad 295 till they get better drivers made for them. But the product hasn't been released yet so wait till its released to base any real opinions on scaling. Seems near the end of the 9800GX2's life they had all of the microstuttering and other issues worked out, also improved quad scaling I believe. Hopefully this card will start out that way if not better when it comes to driver support.

As I've said before, as long as you have eyes and can read numbers, these graphs should not be fooling you. And if they do fool you, then maybe it would be good practice to start reading the axes on a graph.
Who said they were fooling me? It is the fact that they're attempting to fool people that is wrong. As you said, it is statistical manipulation, and that is why I said they're treating people like idiots.
